Promptlink Communications Releases Version 1.2 of Industry-Leading CMTP™ DOCSIS® and PacketCable™ Testing Solution

New Software Version Provides Enhanced EMTA Voice Quality Testing

IRVINE, Calif. – August 21, 2006 – Promptlink Communications, Inc. today announced the release of version 1.2 of its industry-leading Cable Modem Test Platform (CMTP).  This product is designed to test all Cable Modems and Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (EMTA) prior to deployment to customer premises.  Version 1.2 of the product follows a highly successful version 1.1, which is currently testing thousands of devices daily for Cable Multi-System Operators (MSOs).  CMTP Version 1.2 adds advanced new features designed to detect the presence of static, jitter and other unwanted background noise in EMTA devices, along with a slew of other feature enhancements.

These new features build upon CMTP’s existing suite of testing modules designed to reduce expenses related to the processing of Cable Modems and EMTA that are returned from customer homes to Cable MSO warehouses. By properly screening these devices in a high-volume production environment, MSOs save substantial money in unnecessary truck rolls and No Problem Found (NPF) charges from device vendors.  Currently, Promptlink’s CMTP is in use across MSOs such as Time-Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Comcast and Bright House Networks.

“Promptlink Communications is proud to offer these enhancements to what has become a standard testing platform in the industry,” said Dr. Foad Towfiq, President and CEO, Promptlink Communications. “These enhancements place Promptlink in the position to continue offering the most compelling product to customers looking for a powerful, but easy-to-use solution for their EMTA and Cable Modem testing needs.”

The Cable Modem Test Platform is a solution designed to thoroughly test all critical areas of both DOCSIS® Cable Modems and PacketCable™ EMTAs for redeployment to customer homes. By quickly diagnosing device problems, the Cable MSO can better manage inventory, reduce unnecessary expenses and most efficiently utilize their test-environment labor force. The tool can also be used to qualify CPE devices for use in higher bandwidth service offerings, where additional performance is required from these devices. The CMTP solution works on all modems and EMTA devices, regardless of manufacturer, and is designed to be used by non-technical warehouse personnel.

With its’ server-client structure, the CMTP product is easily scalable to capably process devices in even the most demanding customer environments. Scalability is achieved by deploying additional client test stations where more capacity is required. This eliminates the need for multiple complete platforms in high-volume MSO locations, saving thousands of dollars in deployment costs for MSO customers. Because of the mature nature of the CMTP product, short testing cycles have been achieved to maximize the volume of devices that can be processed.

Finally, enhanced reporting has made the Cable Modem Test Platform an even more invaluable tool for handling device RMA’S, with new reporting to effectively document RMA CPE by providing automatic RMA printouts for failed devices. Additional in-depth management-level analysis of device performance is made possible in version 1.2 with new reporting capabilities that allow for the mapping of trends in device performance or irregularities.
